Responsible gaming: bet with your head
Betting should be entertainment. If it stops being fun, stop — and know that help is free and confidential.
Need help now? Call or text 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537), the national problem gambling helpline. It’s free, confidential and open 24/7.
Keep it in check
- Only bet money you can afford to lose. Never bet with money for rent, bills or debts.
- Set a budget and a time limit before you start, and stick to them.
- Don’t chase losses. A losing streak is normal, even for good bettors.
- Don’t bet when you’re upset, stressed or drinking.
- Use the deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion tools your sportsbook offers.
- Remember that predictions — including ours — are estimates. No one wins every bet.
Warning signs
- Betting more than you planned, or more often, to feel the same excitement.
- Borrowing money or selling things to bet.
- Hiding your betting from family or friends.
- Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut back.
- Betting to escape problems or to win back losses.
